Brian Murphy grew up in South Dakota and knew from an early age that he wanted to serve in the military. Post September 11, 2001, after earning his GED and high school diploma, Brian joined the US Marine Corps and served from 2003 until 2018. Though he was tasked as being a mortarman, he spent most of his time behind machine guns while on deployment. After taking part in the first battle of Fallujah, Brian volunteered to stay in country longer and as a result, he took part in the second battle of Fallujah as well. After being injured in an IED blast that destroyed his humvee, Brian eventually went on to earn a spot as an EOD technician. Brian has deployments to both Iraq and Afghanistan, Kuwait, as well as Haiti for earthquake relief. Overall, he spent roughly 5 years on deployments for 36 months of combat tours. After retiring from the military, Brian earned a law degree. Brian worked as a State and Federal prosecutor and he now practices civil law.
